Shiv Sagar Brings Kaakbhushandi Ramayan to IFFI, Honoring Ramanand Sagar’s Legac

Shiv Sagar, grandson of legendary filmmaker Ramanand Sagar, attended the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on Wednesday evening. Accompanied by the cast of the new show Kaakbhushandi Ramayan Sagar brought the timeless essence of the epic saga as the team graced the red carpet of the event.

Kaakbhushandi Ramayan aired on Doordarshan on Monday onwards at 7:30 pm and repeat telecast at 10 am. It is a show is a blending of high-tech VFX and music to deliver a culturally rich experience with superior technology. “Kaakbhushundi Ramayan – Untold Stories,” produced by Sagar World Multimedia.

Expressing his joy at being a part of IIFI this time Shiv shares,” The experience at IIFI was surreal. Walking the red carpet with the cast of the show and in their costumes felt like out of a dream because we received so much appreciation for our craft. All our characters got so much love and it was wonderful to get so much infectious warmth.”

The series is helmed by creative director and producer Shiv Sagar, the grandson of the late Dr. Ramanand Sagar, who brought the epic to life in 1987, captivating millions of hearts worldwide. At a time when television was in its nascent stages in India, Ramanand Sagar’s “Ramayan” became the most-watched television series, with an estimated viewership of over a billion people globally. It has been broadcast in over 65 countries and has remained on-air since its first telecast on 25th January 1987.

Sagar World Multimedia, headed by Shiv Sagar, continues the legacy of creating impactful content. Shiv Sagar’s father, Prem Sagar, who was the marketing director of Sagar Arts and an award-winning cinematographer, directed the award-winning series “Vikram Aur Betal” in 1985. This series became the precursor to “Ramayan,” serving as a test-marketing effort for this new genre, which was non-existent at the time.
