First taking note of this problem while coming across a piece of research he delved deeper and found out the prevalence of this problem in low income areas near his neighbourhood talking to different marginalised women. “I spoke to several very low income women who ran small enterprises like a fruit or a tea stall and got to know that getting credit to expand or finance current needs was like a mere fantasy” says Vivaan.

Using his organisation Ignite India which he founded when he was just a young adolescent of 14 to help underrepresented NGOs create an online presence he enlisted the help of 50+ volunteers across Delhi NCR to identify low income women in multiple slums. The first set of volunteers started work from the beginning of 2023 in January. “Working in the slums was an eye-opening experience living a very sheltered life away from the pressing problems of society” says Vedansh, a volunteer at Ignite India. Till now, Ignite India has managed to identify 850+ women and even managed to secure loans for more than 300 by partnering with an NGO already doing work in the field. They categorise the identified women as marginalised within the marginalised: women who are from underrepresented demographic groups like scheduled castes and face the dual burden of being low income and facing discrimination”. The beneficiaries range from women starting their business for the first time to some using the funds for working capital needs for existing businesses.

Ignite India has plans to expand their reach even further and are currently developing a curriculum for microloan beneficiaries to teach them about things ranging from insurance claim filing to cash flow management. “We plan to use technology that is accessible to all loan beneficiaries: we have tried several mediums but we believe sending their curriculum through regular text messages which may be categorised as simplistic has the potential to reach the maximum number of people. Ignite India is targeting a minimum of 3000 women through this medium very soon and has plans to expand this reach even further within the next few months.

The initiative, conducted under the aegis of Swiggy’s Delivering Safely charter, witnessed the participation of SH Virendra Vij, IPS Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police, aiming to educate and empower over 100 delivery partners in the NCR region regarding road safety and accident prevention practices. SH Sukhbir Singh, HPS-ACP Traffic Police, and ASI Rajesh provided training on crucial aspects such as traffic rules, helmet usage, case studies, consequences of reckless driving, and parking etiquette.

Following the workshop, a helmet distribution session and an energetic roadshow were organized by Swiggy’s delivery partner fleet to underscore Swiggy’s commitment to promoting responsible driving practices.

Realising the need for ambulance services in remote areas of Assam including Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts, the project was conceived by Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Labour & Employment and Member of Parliament, Dibrugarh. He desired quick and easy access to healthcare for the people of Assam and GAIL, executed this very promptly as part of its corporate responsibility.

GAIL Executive Director (CSR & HR) Shri Anoop Gupta and other senior officials of Assam Government and GAIL attended the handing over event to contribute in the Vision of Government of India’s of health and wellness for everyone; which includes physical, mental and social well-being. This event is a part of Project Arogya, a flagship CSR Project of GAIL, a PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

These ambulances were procured by GAIL at a cost of Rs 2.15 crore were handed over to Government hospital authorities. These are Maruti Eeco vehicles appropriately fabricated as ambulances and including autoloader stretcher, stretcher, IV stand, two oxygen cylinders, basic first aid, oxygen mask, flow meter, attendants’ seating, siren, public address system, etc. in compliance with National Ambulance Code.

Last week, Shri Rameswar Teli had flagged off seven Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in Dibrugarh district. The MMUs will operate under the CSR project of GAIL. The GPS tracked MMUs shall cover about 60 km every day and provide medical services to around 80 patients daily. In addition to these, low-cost sanitary napkins are also distributed to adolescent girls and women. Basic diagnostic tests are also undertaken through these MMUs.

Services of the MMUs and ambulances will support the needs of people from remote towns and villages and will considerably bring down the average medical expenses of these families.

The event witnessed esteemed guests, including the Deputy Ambassador of Israel, Israeli government officials, Indian climate-tech investors, media representatives, corporates, and other ecosystem stakeholders.

The event commenced with the keynote address delivered by H.E. Ohad Kaynar, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Israel to India. Following the keynote, Ms. Noa Amsalem, the Water Attaché presented the Israeli Water Innovation Model and how India and Israel are working together to address these water challenges. Nayan Shah, Director, IDE Tech highlighted the impactful work being done in India by IDE Technologies (A world leader in water treatment solutions and desalination).

Expressing his full support for the project, Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh lauded the valor and sacrifice of Brigadier Mohammad Usman, recalling his pivotal role in defending the nation during the tumultuous period of 1947-48. Recently Vikas Bahl and his team visited Shri Rajnath Singh at his official residence in Delhi and were accompanied by Nitin A. Gokhale, renowned national security affairs journalist, and author of a dozen books on military history, wars, and insurgencies. Nitin Gokhale has agreed to be a part of this project as a consultant and will be working closely with Director Vikas Bahl and the writers of the film.

Appreciating the contribution of the ‘Lion of Naushera’, Shri Rajnath Singh shared, “Brigadier Mohammad Usman’s courage, his patriotic spirit, and his invaluable contribution towards his motherland should be celebrated. I will dedicate this award to my co-artists, engineers and all those who strived for the historic event.” Stating that the award comes with many responsibilities, Arun Yogiraj said that he will share the knowledge with the younger generation.

He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for realizing the historical moment of inaugurating Ayodhya temple. “This could not have been possible without PM Modi. I am still amazed at people’s devotion to Lord Ram and how ideology of Ram is significant to this world,” Arun Yogiraj said. He noted that 65 lakh people visited Ram temple in Ayodhya in just a month alone!

Drawing parallels between legendary sculptor ‘Amarashilpi’ Jakanachari and Arun Yogiraj, the Hiremath Foundation honoured him with ‘Abhinava Amarashilpi’ for sculpting ‘Ram Lalla’ statue and scripting history.

“Just like Beluru and Halebeedu temples where Jakanachari carved out sculptures, Ayodhya Ram Mandir too has a religious significance. Honouring Arun Yogiraj with ‘Abhinava Amarashilpi’ is an extension of gratitude,” believes the foundation.

Since then, globally, there have been many advancements in the technologies of these products and in how they have been regulated. Many countries have chosen to regulate these products rather than ban them. In fact, there is ample literature today that suggests that e-cigarettes can contribute to smoking cessation.”

She further added, “India presents a unique challenge because it has one of the largest smokeless tobacco consumptions. The ban on alternatives to conventional smoked tobacco products will hardly make a dent on India’s mission to become tobacco-free. Furthermore, conventional smoked tobacco products continue to exist at relatively cheaper prices than their alternatives, which make the former more attractive. On the other hand, by banning ENDS, India may in fact be denying her population more responsible smoking choices.”
