Someone has rightly said that the work obtained by recognition lasts for a very short time, but the recognition obtained by work lasts for a lifetime.
In today’s changing scenario, there are very few people who, after achieving success, look back and look at society and think that we have moved ahead and now it is our turn to take society forward. This feeling of fulfilling one’s responsibility is seen only in the selected persons who want to pay the debt of salt of the country. 28-year-old Garima Vishal of Bihar has given priority to her responsibility to bring such a positive change in society.
Although usually, the students graduating from an institute like IIM have a dream, a wonderful job with a package of lakhs of crores, people like Garima leave the fascination of money and think about society. That’s why, leaving a package of lakhs, Garima started a unique school in Muzaffarpur to teach poor children, named “Dijavu School of Innovation”.
Madhubani’s daughter and Muzaffarpur’s daughter-in-law Garima chose the path to change society by teaching children. Through her school, Garima, in order to educate the children deprived of education, different from the education system implemented in the country and implemented a new education system, which is based on the three pillar education system. Garima’s father was the registrar and she was transferred from one city to another from time to time, which is why Garima’s education was completed from different schools in Bihar and Jharkhand. In those times when women’s education was not given much attention, yet she always got encouragement from family members to study.
Garima completed her 12th from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Patna, and then joined Manipal Institute of Technology for further studies. Garima, who was a topper in studies since childhood, got campus selection in the country’s well-known company like Infosys in the year 2011 during her studies. According to the social and practical scale, his career was moving at a fast pace, but the teacher hidden inside his mind was always trying to come out to realize the idea of social change. But then his posting in Bhubaneswar proved to be a turning point in his life, which gave an opportunity to the teacher in him to fulfill his responsibility.
During an exclusive conversation with The News Liners, Garima said, “When my posting was in Bhubaneswar office of Infosys. Then one day I was going somewhere by sharing auto. A Gujarati family was also with their children in that auto. Their children were talking among themselves in Hindi. My curiosity grew that how are the children of Gujarati families in Bhubaneswar talk in such good Hindi? Out of curiosity, I asked in which school they study? So the answer was received that they do not study in school because Odia language is taught in government schools here and they cannot teach in private schools because their financial condition is not good. Then what was the responsibility of teaching those children, I took it upon myself, and the process of teaching the children started.
Garima started teaching the children from 7 to 9 in the morning. Gradually the number of children started increasing and soon the number of children reached 30. But during the job itself, he took the CAT exam conducted by IIMs to pursue MBA, and due to his good rank in CAT, he got selected in IIM Lucknow. When Garima had to go to Lucknow for further studies, after working hard at that time, those children were admitted to various schools, Garima borne the cost and gave the responsibility of the month’s fees to their parents.
After completing his MBA, he got his campus selection in MNC named ZS in Gurgaon. But she wanted to do something for society by becoming the builder of a better future for the country. Recalling the struggle to make her dream come true, Garima says, “I was very confused as to how to make my dream come true when my friend Abhay (Abhay Nandan), who is now my life partner during engineering, told me. Seeing my great interest in teaching, I advised you to do whatever your mind is like so that you can be content in life. I liked Abhay very much and both my heart and mind started thinking accordingly. Then after discussions with some more friends and family members, the way was cleared for starting the school.”
The year 2014 proved to be the most transformative year of Garima’s life. Got admission to IIM and together with five friends it was decided to establish such a school whose ultimate goal was to give a golden future to the country through education. When Garima said goodbye to the job, her annual package was about 20 lakh rupees, but the social responsibility of teaching her.
More important than money. After getting everyone’s consent, efforts started to open a school in Bihar, and finally, it was decided to establish a school in Madipur, Muzaffarpur. The name of the school is “Déjvu School of Innovation” Déjvu is a French-language word, which means to feel connected, so the school environment was made like home and Shri Ganesh happened to study from playschool to second grade. Garima’s school started with 10 children and today within 2 years around 100 children are studying till class 5th. The fee has been fixed keeping in view the economic condition of the family of the children, which is very low as Garima aims at providing quality education only. Garima leaves no stone unturned in her work, she not only regularly trains the teachers for the better education of the children but also explains to the parents of the children how to take care of their child at home. What kind of environment should be given to them as well as give special emphasis on the use of technology. Garima’s team consists of all doctors and engineers who want to do something for society. The fellow members of Garima visit her school from time to time, conduct health check-ups of the children, counsel the children and their parents.
For me, school staff does not mean only people with degrees, to me staff means people who have a passion to do something different, such as teachers who keep young children under the shadow of motherhood. That’s why I give priority to women in my school because the quality of motherhood is the identity of a woman.
Garima has a good knowledge of the capabilities of women, that is why after marriage, she does not want to let the talent of women who put themselves in household chores end but wants to enable them by giving them employment. In this unique school of Garima, children are motivated according to their interests so that children do what they want to do in life. Garima’s management studies are very useful in school management when she adopts the 360-degree development method in the personality building of children.
Today we need a young society based on the idea of dignity, who can contribute to maximum development and is able to make their passion their livelihood.
